What are Flow Wrappers?
Flow wrapper machines (sometimes referred to as horizontal form-fill-seal or HFFS machines) are packaging systems that wrap products in a continuous tube of flexible film, sealing the film, and cutting it to produce individual packages.
How Flow WRappers Work
Infeed Conveyor: Flow wrapping machines often feature an infeed conveyor that carries the product through the machine. Products are either placed manually on the conveyor or through an automated feeder system.
Film Forming: A flat roll of packaging film is unwound and guided through a forming box (or shoe) to wrap smoothly around the advancing product into a tube shape.
Longitudal Sealing: Heated rollers or wheels seal the overlapping edges of the film lengthwise.
End Sealing and Cutting: Rotating sealing jaws clamp down to create the top and bottom seals of individual packages while a built-in cutter separates each finished item.
