Mateer 1100 Volumetric Filler

The Mateer 1100 is a single-speed volumetric “bulk and dribble” filler that combines volumetric filling with weight-based adjustments to achieve high accuracy (typically ±0.5–0.75%) for a wide range of powders, pastes, creams, slurries, and other products. Designed for both manual and conveyor-based operations, it offers durable stainless-steel construction, easy changeovers, advanced PLC/HMI controls, and a long service life backed by decades of parts and support.

About Mateer - 1100

The Mateer 1100 is a single-speed volumetric filler, also called a “bulk and dribble” filler. As a fill-to-weight machine, it fills to a preset volume, then weighs the container and calculates how much product needs to be added to achieve the goal. Although a calculated fill, it provides a high degree of accuracy at +/- ½ to ¾%, which can be made more precise with product testing.

The 1100 can be an integral part of either a hand fill or conveyor-based operation. It will fill rigid and flexible containers, from bags and bag-in-box to something as small as a vial. It’s ideal for lower-value products such as bird seed or diatomaceous earth.

Mateer dry fillers are engineered for an expected life of 25 years, and we proudly still supply parts and service for active filling machines installed more than 60 years ago.

Product Details

  • Speed dependent upon the operator
  • Capable of filling free-flowing and non-free flowing powders, as well as creams, pastes and slurries
  • Product contact parts are built from either 304 or 316 foodgrade stainless steel, depending on your application
  • Has a Servo motor that, depending on product density and size of the hopper, can be either belt-driven or direct drive
  • The Servo motor provides more torque, greater efficiency and reliability, and is low maintenance, simplifying service and reducing downtime
  • Provides industry standard PLC and HMI controls, enabling operators to easily input, change and monitor filling parameters
  • Industry-standard PLC and HMI controls, enabling operators to easily input, change and monitor filling parameters. This maximizes speed, efficiency and keeps downtime to a minimum. Programming is included in the installation of any Mateer filling machine.
  • Tool-free product changeover can be done in as little as 10 minutes, * minimizing equipment down-time.
  • Auger height adjustment is outside of the product area and can be accomplished in seconds without disrupting production. This separation prevents workers from placing their hands inside the hopper, reducing the possibility of product contamination and increasing operator safety.
  • BW Packaging strictly adheres to Food Grade Certification General Accepted Practices, using only food-grade stainless steel in our equipment designs. Every weld is polished smooth, eliminating crevices or burrs on which bacteria can grow. Mateer fillers can be upgraded to comply with 3-A Sanitary Standards certification, which affirms the integrity of hygienic processing equipment and systems.
  • Mateer fillers are designed for operator safety, and include polycarbonate guards, hands-free height adjustments, interlocking access doors
  • Come with a comprehensive manual that includes everything needed to keep your Mateer running smoothly. Manuals include illustrations, how-to information on set up, changeovers and repairs; service and lubrication schedules, best-practice and safety tips. Manuals are available in print or digitally in multiple languages, making this critical information easy to share with your entire team.

* With a second set of change parts.

Technical Data

  • Fills to 95% of net target weight, then the Microset takes a gross weight, subtracts the tare weight and determines the bulk net weight of the product in the container. The Microset then calculates the number of auger turns required to reach the target weight. A volumetric trim fill tops off the container.
  • Filler heads are cast from a single piece of aluminum for greater durability
  • Has a 230/380/460 volt, 3 phase, 50/60 hertz motor

Options

  • Lifts for packing and bottom-up work in conjunction.  The container lift prevents blow up over the sides to minimize dust in filling.
  • Air, or short, lift is a pressure or vacuum-assisted lift for raising containers off conveyors for weighing applications
  • Vibrators to help settle product, located at the filling position or farther down the production line
  • Level and cut off controls
  • Checkweigh feedback will change the amount of product is filled by adjusting auger revolutions based on a feedback pulse
